“The Garden Temple of Composting”
The Temple of Compost is an area in your Temple Garden that can be utilized time and time again. After cutting our vegetables after your meal, cut all the peel, stalks, and leaves as small as you can, then they can be placed in the compost area. If you are not able to place your leftovers in your compost area immediately, place them in a container with a lid on to avoid mosquitoes and flies.
Leaves and grass from the vegetable Temple garden, compost very easily, you can mix them with hay in a separate compost. Dried leaves and branches take longer to compost so having a separate Temple compost is needed. When placing the separate disregarded vegetable parts in the compost bin, even them out, place them gently then place hay or grass on top of about five cm of thick dried hay or grass, you can also use sawdust, to prevent flies and mosquitoes. Gently close the lid tightly to avoid any water entering. If you have bamboo or lotus stalks, do not place them in your compost as they take too long to break down.
Make sure you do not compost already cooked food, to avoid attracting rats and snakes. The Garden Temple of compost needs to be swept out and cleaned daily. Making sure you wash out any containers on a daily basis. By creating a Temple compost in your Temple garden, you are giving back to Mother Earth. Everything we use can be composted or reused and sew new seeds back into the rich soil. Take the time to sit in your temple garden to give gratitude and prayer for what you have created.
