Thich Nhat Hanh

Thich Nhat Hahn, was a Vietnamese Zen Master, poet, and peace activist, and was a monk for over forty years. In Vietnam, he founded the School of Youth for Social Service (“the little peace corps”), an instrument for rebuilding villages that were destroyed by bombs and for resettling tens of thousands of people fleeing the war zones. He also founded Van Hanh Buddhist University, La Boi Press, and the Tiep Hien Order of Interbeing. In 1966, he came to the U.S. and Europe at the invitation of the Fellowship of Reconciliation to “represent the wishes of the Vietnamese people of all faiths who had no means to speak for themselves” In 1966 he was nominated by Martin Luther King, Jr for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1967. Unable to return to Vietnam after his overseas tour, he received asylum in France, where he served as chairman of the Vietnamese Buddhist Peace Delegation to the Paris Peace Talks. He spent most of his later life living in Plum Village, a small community in France. Since his passing the Plum Village Society and the Brothers & Sisters are a continuation of him and his teaching continues on through the Plum Village Worldwide and Cedar Society.

Our Dream and Fundraiser

Willow Tree Shrine & Sanctuary

We are raising funds to build a Shrine & Sanctuary based on the tradition of Christian Buddhism, supporting children and adults with disabilities and Dementia / Alzheimers. We need support to make this dream come true and through the sale of our books, our teaching, and our products we hope to raise one million pounds to create a sanctuary a place that saves animals and gives them rehabilitation and respite. If you would like to donate we would gladly appreciate and welcome your support.

Here is our dream:

Set amongst forty acres of land, Willow Tree Shrine & Sanctuary is a magical place to visit and enjoy our Temple Gardens of Love, our training school, equine center, and animal sanctuary. All of our animals enjoy the freedom of the land, creating a happy family environment. Visit our herb and medicinal gardens where a qualified Practitioner will be there to assist you and help you create a Temple Garden in your own home. Visitors and Monastics can practice the art of mindful living in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, we follow the teaching by joining mindfulness practice centers around the world in the Plum Village Tradition. Our non-profit arm of the business “Faith” works to continue the practice and mindful teachings of the late Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, in order to gain peace and transform suffering in all people, plants, animals, and minerals on our planet.

We wanted to let you know we have started a crowdfunding project for which I am aiming to raise £1,000,000. I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.
